Our story
Formed March 2014 by a group who collectively had 100 years’ experience walking with prisoners to plan for and achieve full and meaningful lives in our community.
We knew this cannot be done in isolation!

We work collaboratively with family/whanau and Corrections as well as accommodation providers, workplace trainers and employers, budget advisors and faith communities in partnership with the prisoner to achieve their safe re-integration.

This covers pre-release, and mentoring post release for at least the first 12 months back in the community.

What are we looking for:

-
Prisoners who hope to be released in Auckland and have a definite indication from the Parole Board that they will be released provided they have adequate support and accommodation and who have not been able to secure that.
-
Prisoners with community support or functional support needing direction.
-
Prisoners displaying a want for change and therefore prepared to pay short term cost for long term gain. Such costs may be living away from previous social or family connections; agreeing to being fully transparent; boundaries that may go beyond what may be required because they will produce long term benefits and maturity and reduced risk.
-
Prisoners who identify they can't do it on their own but could with help and prepared to build relationships based on mutual trust.
-
Prisoners that take ownership for their actions, not blame others. In other words we are not looking for perfect but individuals who are open to helping themselves under the guidance of others. We are not looking to support those who are looking for a ticket out of prison.
